Abstract |
The Clean Air Act as amended in 1977 prescribes several technology-based limitations affecting new or modified air pollution sources: (1) new source performances standards (NSPS); (2) best available control technology (BACT); and (3) lowest achievable emission rate (LAER). The basic purposes of the BACT/LAER Clearinghouse are to: (1) provide State and local air pollution control agencies with current information on case-by-case control technology determinations that are made nationwide and (2) promote communication, cooperation, and sharing of control technology information among the permitting agencies. The information presented in the compilation was abstracted from preconstruction permits and submitted voluntarily by the State and local air pollution control agencies. |
