Abstract |
This document presents the findings of an extensive study of the cane sugar refining industry for the purpose of recommending effluent limitations guidelines, federal standards of performance, and pretreatment standards for the industry. The cane sugar refining segment of the sugar processing industry has been divided into two subcategories: liquid cane sugar refining and crystalline cane sugar refining. The proposed limitations for all three levels of technology as set forth above establish the requirements for discharge to navigable waters. Supportive data and rationale for development of the effluent limitations guidelines and standards of performance are contained in this document. Processes, wastes available in control technology and costs are discussed. |
