Abstract |
Spectral analysis is applied to develop a model for the monthly runoff sequence. The autoregressive scheme is adequate to represent the normalized standardized monthly sequences. A comparison of the spectral and parametric estimation of the model parameters is performed for their respective generating capabilities. The monthly rainfalls are analyzed using the same spectral technique. The normalized standardized series do not differ sensibly from a white noise or uncorrelated random variables. The rainfall-runoff relationship is analyzed by the cross-spectral technique and it is found that the linear system for the two series does not explain the relationship adequately.
