Abstract |
The radiation generated by the more than 100,000 medical diagnostic and therapeutic X-ray units in the United States, while obviously yielding great benefits to man, also consitutes a major source of population exposure from man-made radiation. To aid health agencies in achieving the public health goal of reducing useless radiation exposure, this publication was developed. It will assist qualified personnel in completing survey forms developed and distributed by the Public Health Service. These forms have been designed to provide meaningful information which can be easily coded and tabulated through automatic data processing operations. The resultant information aids appropriate health agencies in evaluating X-ray and teletherapy installations and provides the basis for correcting deficiencies and for future program needs. (Author) |
