A protocol for preparing method evaluation materials from real-world lead-containing paints is described. Materials prepared using this protocol have been found suitable for use as quality control check samples as well as for evaluation of new methods. Procedures described include collection of materials, preliminary cleanup, homogenization, verification, and packaging.
