Abstract |
The Committee on the Challenges of Modern Society (CCMS) Solar Energy Pilot Study was established in 1973 as a collaborative effort to encourage the cost-effective and practical application of solar energy to heating and cooling in residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and public buildings. The Solar Energy Pilot Study ended in October of 1978, and like all CCMS pilot studies, it entered a two-year follow up period. Participants recommended a continued exchange of information on national programs, and suggested that that the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) allow a special session on this topic at its biannual meeting, in May of 1979. Seventeen CCMS countries presented status reports on their national solar heating and cooling programs at two sessions of the ISES Congress. |
