Abstract |
The case studies present available cost and performance information for full-scale remediation efforts and several large-scale demonstration projects. They are meant to serve as primary reference sources, and contain information on site background and setting, contaminants and media treated, technology, cost and performance, and points of contact for the technology application. The studies contain varying levels of detail, reflecting the differences in the availability of data and information. The case studies in this volume describe 14 pump and treat applications used to remediate contaminated groundwater, including 11 applications used to remediate contaminated groundwater, one application used only to contain groundwater, and two applications used to recover free product. For these applications, groundwater was contaminated with a variety of contaminants including chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), pesticides/herbicides, and heavy metals (e.g., chromium). The quantity of groundwater treated in these applications ranged from 23 to 1,200 million gallons, and project durations ranged from two to 13 years. |
