Abstract |
In 1982, EPA began awarding Clean Water Act Section 104(g)(1) grants to States to provide onsite compliance assistance and training to operators of small municipal wastewater treatment plants. The National Environmental Training Association is working under a grant to help States develop comprehensive, compliance-oriented operator training and operations and maintenance programs. This effort is also producing results as States develop and implement needed action plans. Two formal Reports to Congress have been prepared documenting the overall accomplishments of this program. The accomplishments of the national program, however, are the result of the efforts of hundreds of State personnel, plant operators and local officials who are working to bring the plants into compliance. This informal Onsite Assistance Report documents a few of these hundreds of success stories. It is intended to show those working in the program and to others what has been and can be accomplished. We plan to continue compiling and distributing success stories like these and ask readers to send us information on problems, approaches, and accomplishments we can share across the country. |
