Abstract |
The report estimates the costs of providing waste treatment to the total urban population of the U. S. by 1973 (162.6 million) at appropriate treatment levels to comply with water quality standards. In order to meet the standards by 1973, it is estimated that 90% of the urban population will require secondary treatment facilities and 10% primary treatment facilities. The urban population in 1973 will be 75% of the total U. S. population. Currently, only 55% of the urban population is served by adequate waste treatment facilities. |
