Abstract | The bio-disc wastewater treatment process was evaluated during operation for one summer at a recreational camp. The bio-disc section consisted of four stages, each of 22 polystyrene discs 1.98 m in diameter, and was preceeded by a septic tank that served to handle both the primary and the biological sludge produced. Evaluation of the plant included time required for start-up, organic removal efficiency, response to flow variations, nutrient removals, aesthetic impact, and required maintenance and operation attention.
