Abstract |
This decision document represents the selected remedial actions for the Northern Area of the Platteville Aquifer, Reilly Tar and Chemical Corporation Site (the 'Site'). This remedy addresses only the Northern Area of the Platteville Aquifer, and will prevent the further spread of ground water contaminated with Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons in this aquifer. The major components of the selected remedy include: the interception and containment of contaminants by use of a gradient control well which will prevent the further spread of contaminated ground water in the Northern Area of the Platteville Aquifer; the discharge from the new well will initially be routed to the sanitary sewer for treatment at the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services wastewater treatment plant to remove contaminants from the collected ground water; and continued water level and water quality monitoring of the ground water contaminant plume during remediation activities. |
