Review of state of the art of combustion-product toxicity testing and fire hazard assessment. The report discusses recent fire death trends in the light of current concepts of modern fire hazard. The use of chemical tests of smoke toxic potency is discussed; the use of screening tests or of toxicity tests as screening devices is also discussed. Guidelines for the use of fire hazard assessment are included.
