Abstract | Concentrations of Al, As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, S, Se, V, Zn, Ni, Pb, measured in aerosol particles over a 15 year period at 16 sites in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania were used to estimate dry deposition fluxes of these elements to the Chesapeake Bay's 7 major sub-basins. The concentration data were adjusted to reflect PM 2.5, as necessary, and averaged to produce five spatially-discrete categories, including two urban (i.e., Philadelphia/Camden and Washington, DC) and three rural (Deep Creek Lake, rural Bay, and Lewes, DE) areas. Concentrations observed in each of these regions were mapped onto the Bay Program's Phase-III Chesepeake Bay watershed model segments for each of the 7 major sub-basins and for the model's 9 land-use categories. |
