Contents Notes
This book has been written to assist records managers, managers of information systems, data processing managers, and all those who are responsible for the protection of their organization's information resources. Disasters come in many flavors. Unfortunately, we do not select our favorite flavor of disasters nor do we choose the time when we will sample a new variety. By their very nature, disasters are sudden, unexpected, and unwanted. Some disasters, such as those resulting from faulty wiring or leaky plumbing, can be avioded; others such as hurricanes and earthquakes, cannot. Disasters, by definition, produce harmful results. One aim of this book is to assist records and information managers in preventing disasters from becoming catastrophes -- events that result in great destruction or irreplaceable loss.
