Abstract |
This decision document presents the selected Interim Remedial Action (IRA) for the U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE) Hanford 200-UP-1 Operable Unit (OU), 200 Area, Hanford Site, Benton County, Washington. The selected remedy consists of pumping the highest concentration zone of the contaminated groundwater plume at 200-UP-1 and treatment using the existing Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF) located in the 200 East Area. The selected remedy is intended to reduce contaminant mass within the plume and minimize migration of uranium and technetium-99 from the 200 West Area. The selected remedy will remove and treat these two contaminants of concern, in addition to the specific co-contaminants of nitrate and carbon tetrachloride which exist within the groundwater. |
