Abstract |
The workshop focused on the impact of in-plant process and equipment changes on water use and waste abatement in poultry processing. The objectives discussed were to: Share results of an EPA research, development and demonstration project conducted in the Gold Kist plant at Durham, North Carolina; Interpret the usefulness of these results for improving the operation of plants; and Discuss implications of the results for implementation of water conservation and waste abatement programs by poultry processing firms and enforcement of health and environmental programs by regulatory agencies.
