Abstract | This test involves the growth of mice cells in culture dishes in the presence of the material being tested (the experimental protocol used is a modification of that described by Clive, D. and Spector, J.F.S., Laboratory Procedure for Assessing Specific Locus Mutations at the TK Locus in Cultured L5178Y Mouse Lymphoma Cells. Mutation Research 31:17-29, (1975)). After the 'exposure' period, the cells are washed and placed in a growth medium which restricts the growth of 'normal' cells. Only mutant cells should grow in this medium. Control groups are used to detect the growth of any non-exposed cells in the medium. |
