BASF has knowledge of results of a subacute inhalation toxicity study of chloroformic acid methyl ester (CAS No. 79-22-1) sponsored by BG Chemie, P.O. Box 101480, 6900 Heidelberg, Germany (Employment Accident Insurance Fund of the Chemical Industry). Although BASF does not feel that the information presents a substantial risk to health or environment, it is being submitted under Section 8(e) of TSCA. A subacute inhalation toxicity study in male and female Sprague- Dawley rats was performed according to OECD-Guideline No. 412 and EEC method B.8. Groups of five animals/sex were exposed to air (control) and five different concentrations of CFAME 6 hours per day, 5 days per week for 4 weeks. The concentrations were: 0.52 mg/m (low), 1.48 mg/m (low intermediate), 3.94 mg/m (intermediate), 12.14 mg/m (high intermediate), and 34.36 mg/m (high). |
