Abstract |
Buytl 'carbitol' acetate, having a 4 hour LD50 of 72.5 mg/L (8693 ppm), is considered non-toxic based upon inhalation exposure of male laboratory rats. During exposures the animals showed signs of moderate respiratory discomfort and at lethal concentrations, death did not occur until after exposure. Gross pathological examination of two rats found dead 24 hours after exposure to 78.57 mg/L (9420 ppm) revealed red focl and slight congestion. The same signs were evident in two of four animals exposed to 72.38 mg/L (8666 ppm) and sacrificed 14 days post-exposure. |
