Abstract | The report contains an investigation of the economics of utilizing iron pyrite (FeS2) obtained from coal beneficiation. The primary objectives of our study were (1) to determine the costs and revenues associated with the processing of iron pyrite removed from coal prior to combustion of the coal, and the products to be derived from such removal, and (2) to evaluate the acceptability of the process to the industries that might be involved (e.g., coal, utility, chemical, and steel).
