Abstract |
The manual describes a new concept in abating air pollution normally associated with coke pushing and quenching emissions in the iron and steel industry. The 'enclosed coke pushing and quenching system' involves containment of the hot coke from the face of the slot-type oven during the pushing operation, through the successive handling and transport, and through a continuous and controlled quench. The hot coke emissions are confined and cleaned before discharge to the atmosphere and the quench emissions are controlled to stack discharge of low velocity steam vapor. The coke plant itself consists of a single battery of 87 'tall' ovens and complete coal chemical plant and support facilities. |
