Abstract |
A study was made of the technical and economic aspects of the emissions and control of air pollutants in the primary aluminum industry. The cost and performance data base for the study included detailed information supplied by the domestic producers, typical performance data obtained from equipment suppliers, and published information from the technical literature. Engineering analysis of the data resulted in systems evaluation of current industry control in terms of present costs and performance. Systems analysis was applied to growth projections at various control levels to estimate future costs and emissions. Recommendations were made covering the direction of research and development efforts towards improvement in pollution abatement by the industry. (Modified author abstract) |
