Abstract | A conference on the design and use of granular activated carbon (GAC) was cosponsored May 9-10, 1989, by the AWWA Research Foundation (AWWARF) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Twenty-one US experts presented papers that focused on practical issues associated with GAC system design and use. The article is a synopsis of that conference and discusses some of the major points a utility should consider when evaluating GAC. The information presented here comes directly from the manuscripts prepared for the conference presentations. |
