Abstract |
The purpose of the validation protocol is to determine bias and precision of the test method at the level of concentration in the gas stream. Procedures involve (1) introducing known concentrations of an analyte or comparing the method against a validated test method to determine bias and (2) using multiple sampling trains to determine precision. The protocol lists a number of important requirements for the validation of the test method. They include; use of EPA audit material; documenting and reporting results; procedures for determining bias and precision by means of isotopic and analyte spiking of multiple train samples or comparison to validated methods; and, procedures for calculating precision, bias and correction factors. The protocol also defines the acceptance criteria in terms of percent bias and precision and how the determined precision dictates future testing with the validated method. |
