Abstract | Fifty-one (51) privately owned in-use vehicles equipped with three-way catalyst emission control systems were recruited and tested. The tests conducted on each of these vehicles included on Idle Test at a DEQ test station, followed by an Idle Test, FTP, HFET, F3M, and a Two Mode Test at the HTS facility. A diagnostic check was performed on each vehicle prior to being pre-conditioned for the FTP. Any vehicle which was equipped with an air pump was also subjected to a repeat of the HTS Idle Test and the Two Mode Test with the air pump disconnected. Restorative maintenance was performed on any vehicle which failed to meet EPA-specified emission criteria. |
