The goals of this study were to identify toxic ambient areas in the Chesapeake Bay watershed by using a battery of standardized, directly modified, or recently developed water column and sediment toxicity tests. The toxicity of ambient estuarine water and sediment was evaluated during the fall of 1994 at six stations in Baltimore Harbor (Patapsco River) and two stations each in the Sassafras, Magothy and Severn Rivers.
