Abstract |
The objective of the research was to determine, through the construction of a model, water and salt movement under unsaturated soil water conditions. This information would permit maintenance of a desired salinity level in soils and the reduction of pollution of groundwater supplies. The report presents a study of the movement of salts and pesticides in lysimeters under unsaturated soil water conditions. In addition to computer models for predicting the simultaneous movement of water and nitrates or pesticides, a large amount of data on movement of salts and pesticides through soil columns is presented. In addition to data on total salts, data are presented on the movement of individual anions and cations since both the concentration and the ratio of the various ions in the drainage water need to be known for predictive purposes. |
