The Health Advisory (HA) provides information on the health effects, analytical methodology and treatment technology that would be useful in dealing with White Phosphorus contamination of drinking water. Due to the extreme toxicity of White Phosphorus following oral ingestion, One-day, Ten-day, and Longer-term (child and adult) HAs are not recommended. The Lifetime HA is 0.0001 mg/l. White Phosphorus is not classifiable as to human carcinogenicity. Health Advisories describe nonregulatory concentrations of drinking water contaminants at which adverse health effects would not be anticipated to occur over specific exposure durations.
