Abstract |
A method of treating nitrogen deficient petrochemical wastes with a modification of activated sludge is proposed. Active bacterial cells are grown in one unit with nitrogen supplementation, and the excess sludge from this unit is utilized in the activated aerator to remove C.O.D. without any nitrogen supplementation. Equations are presented for predicting the excess sludge with glucose, phenol and acetate substrates under nitrogen supplemented and nitrogen deficient conditions. (Modified author abstract) |
