Abstract | The various elements of manpower planning for the protection of the environment, as set forth by law in the Federal Water Quality Control Act, as amended in 1972, are discussed. They include employment forecasting, training for labor shortages, air pollution abatement, solid waste management, and environmental health. Specific involvement of manpower planning with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is discussed. At an environmental manpower planning conference held in St. Louis, Missouri, it was proposed that manpower forecasts be monitored and updated during the 1973 - 1978 period so that information would be available to the U.S. EPA for publication of such forecasts as required by law. |
