Abstract | The panel has evaluated several near and long term alternative power systems including diesel, gas turbine Rankine cycle and Stirling engines. In addition electric vehicles and alternative fuels were studies. Various aspects of each engine-system was considered including emissions, fuel economy, noise, cost size and weight, produceability and driveability. The report also discusses the lead time necessary to begin limited and mass production of each system. |
