Abstract |
The Ames Solid Waste Recovery System is a continuously operating system that is processing municipal solid waste for use as a supplemental fuel in the existing steam generators of the Ames Municipal Power Plant. The purpose of this report is to present results of the investigations of the environmental effects of using solid waste as a supplemental fuel. This report presents the results and conclusions of the first-year environmental emissions investigation on the two stoker-fired steam generator units when using coal and refuse derived fuel. Following sections of this report present a statement of the objectives, a summary of results, a description of the boilers, a description of the experimental design and the sampling methods used, and a presentation of the results. The results of the environmental investigations were analyzed statistically. This statistical study is presented in the Appendix. |
