Abstract | The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Research and Development (USEPA/ORD) recently released its new comprehensive modeling system, the Models3/Community Multiscale model for Air Quality (CMAQ). The system consists of CMAQ, the urban-to-regional scale Eulerian air quality model designed for one-atmosphere assessments for multiple pollutants including ozone (O3), and other oxidants, aerosols and particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5), and acid/nutrient deposition to ecosystems, and Models3, the computational framework surrounding and supporting CMAQ. The science subsystems making up CMAQ include the MM5 meteorological model, the Models3 Emissions processing and Projection System (MEPPS), and the CMAQ chemical transport model (CCTM). |
