Abstract |
The case studies present available cost and performance information for full-scale remedial efforts and several large-scale demonstration projects. They are meant to serve as primary reference sources, and contain information on site background and setting, contaminants and media treated, technology, cost and performance, and points of contact for the technology application. The studies contain varying levels of detail, reflecting the differences in the availability of data and information. The case studies in this volume describe 14 pump and treat applications used to remediate contaminated groundater, including 11 applications used to remediate contaminated groundwater, two applications used only to contain groundwater, and one application that was an interim action to recover free product. For all 14 applications, groundwater was contaminated with chlorinated solvents such as tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), dichloroethene (DCE), and vinyl chloride. The quantity of groundwater treated in these applications ranged from 13 to 4,900 million gallons, and project durations ranged from one to nine years. |
