The report to Congress presents the activities and accomplishments of the Task Force on Environmental Cancer and Heart and Lung Disease, in its fourth year. Three recommendations are discussed: the implementation and operation of the National Death Index from the National Center for Health Statistics, the study of the impediments to epidemiology research, and the development of a coordinated environmental health education program for clinicians and other health professionals. Also discussed in this report are the activities and progress of the Task Force Working Group and of the Project Groups: Exposure and Metabolic Mechanisms, Education of the Public and Health Professionals, Standardization and Measurements and Tests. The main Task Force activities are also discussed in the report. |
