One hundred privately owned light-duty vehicles from the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area were tested for exhaust emission levels of total hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxides of nitrogen, light hydrocarbons, and aliphatic aldehydes according to the 1975 Federal Test Procedure. 1975 model year vehicles were tested for highway fuel economy and modal emissions. The test results were used to compute emission factors based on the 1975 Federal Test Procedure.
