Abstract
Isopropanol is under evaluation for health effects. Final protocols and amendments for several studies are presented, but results are not provided. Subchronic inhalation toxicity/neurotoxicity tests include a 14-week vapor inhalation study in rats and mice and neurotoxicity evaluation in rats (underway), a 9-day probe vapor inhalation study in rats and mice, and a single exposure vapor inhalation neurotoxicity study in rats (completed). A definitive reproduction and fertility study will be conducted in February, 1990, and developmental toxicity studies in rats and rabbits have been completed. The probe study for the developmental neurotoxicity study is completed, and the definitive study will begin in July, 1990. The gene mutation study in Chinese hamster ovary cells is completed and an in vivo cytogenetics mouse micronucleus study is underway. Oncogenicity studies in rats and mice are scheduled to begin in early 1991. Pharmacokinetics studies in rats (oral, inhalation, and intravenous exposures) are completed, and studies in mice are underway.
