Abstract |
The book is an outgrowth of the Guidelines for the Health Assessment of Suspect Developmental Toxicants. In that document, several general areas of research were identified that were needed to fill data gaps or to reduce uncertainties associated with estimating risks for human developmental effects due to exposure to hazardous substances. The book focuses on the research needs for risk assessment indicated in the Guidelines, and includes an update and review of each area. Each chapter focuses on the specific issues within a particular area that hold promise in addressing uncertainties for risk assessment and regulatory decision-making. The document addresses pharmacokinetics, behavior, epidemiology, structure-activity relationships, quantitative risk assessment, and statistical analysis. A comprehensive listing of relevant literature is included. |
