Abstract | The navigable waters of Moriches Bay on Long Island and the easterly end of Great South Bay receive the discharge of wastes from extensive duck farms, municipal and domestic sewerage systems, industrial operations, recreational boats, and land drainage. As a result, these waters are polluted by bacteria, suspended solids, and nutrients. The report discusses the problems associated with pollution abatement. |
