Abstract |
The maximum allowable emissions from operating permits for Scott Paper Company and Weyerhaeuser Company pulp and paper mills in Everett, Washington were obtained from Washington Department of Ecology. A 5-year sequential meteorological data base was prepared using wind data from the Puget Sound Air Pollution Control Agency monitoring station in Everett, surface observations from Sea-Tac Airport, and upper air data from Quillayute, Washington. The mill's emissions of sulfur dioxide and particulate matter were modeled using the most recent versions of COMPLEX1, SHORTZ, and ISCST to determine: (1) if the existing monitoring site was located such that maximum concentrations are measured; and (2) if existing permit limits on emissions were sufficient to ensure compliance with State and Federal ambient air quality standards. |
