The tape contains eight files (listed below) of data collected for an EPA-sponsored case-control study of nasal and pharyngeal cancer and formaldehyde associations. The study was conducted by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center between December, 1982 and February, 1986 through a subcontract from Science Applications International Corporation. The study attempted to include all incident cases of cancer of the nasal cavity and sinus occurring between 1/1/79 - 12/31/83, and cancer of the pharynx occurring between 1/1/80 - 12/31/83. The study population included residents of 13 counties in western Washington who were between the ages of 20-74 at the time of diagnosis. The study data were collected through interviews, and include information on the demographic, chemical exposure, smoking, alcohol, and medical histories of the persons interviewed.
