Contents Notes | The poster's central panel illustration is based on wall decorations from tombs in Thebes, and depicts a pharaoh and his queen hunting birds. Columns on outer left and right show Egyptian hieroglyphic numerals as used on monuments, "wedjat eye" or Horus-eye fractions, and some examples of algebraic problems found in the Rhind Papyrus and Berlin Papyrus. The text box at the bottom explains the hieroglyphic numeral system, outlines mathematical problems dealt with by Egyptian scribes, and explains in detail the problems and solutions in the columns. |
