Abstract |
The hydraulic conductivities of a sandy soil and a sandy clay loam were related to bulk density. Bulk density of the soil was predicted from moisture content and the resistance of the soil as measured by a cone penetrometer. The effects on infiltration of both the soild geometry and the surface cover were determined. An H-flume and Cashocton wheel system for measuring and sampling runoff was modified to minimize sediment deposition in the system. Eight runoff plots were instrumented at a research farm in the Coastal Plain of Alabama. A digital data acquisition system was developed to record runoff, rainfall and other weather data on computer compatible magnetic tape. (WRSIC abstract) |
