Abstract
A hierarchical approach is being implemented for the development and validation of analytical methods for the determination of the over 400 RCRA Appendix VIII and Michigan List compounds in wastes. The first phase of the approach involved testing GC/MS methods for the detection and measurement of these compounds. Next, semivolatile compounds determined to be amenable to GC/MS were used to evaluate the performance of SW-846 Method 3510. In the study described in the report, volatile organic compounds determined to be amenable to GC/MS were used to evaluate the performance of SW-846 Method 5030.
