Abstract | The Reich Farm site is located in Dover Township, Ocean County, New Jersey. The site is currently owned by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Reich. In August 1971, they rented a portion of their land to Mr. Nicholas Fernicola for temporary storage of used 55-gallon drums. Most of the drums had Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) markings on them, with labels reading 'tar pitch,' 'lab waste solvent,' 'blend of resin and oil,' and 'solvent wash of process stream' among others. The site first came to the attention of the New Jersey Superior Court when the Reichs filed suit against Mr. Fernicola and UCC. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the ground water and soils are VOCs including 1,1,1-trichloroethane (TCA), TCE, PCE, and semi-volatile organics compounds (SVOCs). The selected remedial action for the site is included. |
