Abstract |
With the publication of the Indian River Lagoon Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (IRLCCMP), more than 100 agencies and local governments with management responsibilities for the Lagoon have agreed on a united strategy to preserve the fragile balance between man and nature which has lured so many of us to this special and beautiful place. The IRLCCMP contains 68 recommended actions addressing critical problems, such as the preservation of wetlands, seagrass restoration, endangered species protection, water and sediment quality improvement, land acquisition needs, and the means of funding preservation and restoration activities. All of these actions have the express purpose of protecting the integrity, diversity and productivity of the unique resource the authors know as the Indian River Lagoon. |
