Abstract | The purpose of this study is to determine the acute toxicity of Santicizers 160 (S-160) to the midge, Paratanytarsus parthenogenetica. This midge is considered a valid representative of the Benthic Community and recent published reports have used P. parthenogenetica to judge the safety of given chemicals to benthic organisms (1, 2). Toxicological information together with an estimate of environmental exposure concentration can be used to evaluate the potential environmental hazard of a chemical resulting from manufacture, use and disposal. |
