This report was presented to the EPA Science Advisory Board on April 6-7, 1999 as part of a proposed integrated approach to assessing metals contamination of surface waters and sediments for the protection of aquatic and benthic organisms. The document presents a compilation of data and analyses from scientific investigations into the bioavailability of metals in surface waters and sediments and their affect on aquatic and benthic organisms.
