The fundamentals of searching public records online -- Using search engines for locating public information -- Researching social networks -- Online sources presented by topic-finding information on people and businesses -- State and local government online sources -- Searching federal court records -- Public record database vendors -- Quick-find index. Sankey and Hetherington provide guidance to finding public records and public information online. The first three chapters discuss the fundamentals of searching online public records, the use of search engines, and researching social networks. The next chapter offers brief descriptions of online sources arranged according to 38 topic categories (e.g. aviation records, business entity records, copyrights, most wanted lists, vehicle records, trade associations, etc.). The largest chapter covers all the states, with each state section dealing with state public record agencies, state occupational licensing and regulatory boards, courts, and other local or county agencies. The remaining chapters deal with federal court records and public record database vendors. |
