Abstract |
This study has surveyed the military explosives and propellant manufacturing industry, covering both 'GOGO' and 'GOCO' facilities. Sources of wastewater, volumes, and pollutant constituents have been reported where such data existed. Treatment technology currently in use at the various installations has been described, including effectiveness of pollutant removal and secondary (air and solid) waste generation. Systems under development at these military installations have also been examined and evaluated in light of available information. The report consists of three volumes. Volume I presents general conclusions and recommendations and describes the industry's manufacturing operations. Volume II presents the bulk of the data concerning the wastewaters and the treatment systems now in place. Volume III reviews and summarizes data from the first two volumes and describes and evaluates the new treatment processes under development at this time. |
